Trained as an engineer. Mostly self-taught on everything that matters.

I figure things out as I go. So far so good.

Most systems that actually work weren't designed.

They emerged out of pressure, necessity, and people who didn't wait for permission.

I work at the intersection of those systems and the institutions trying to formalize them.

Sometimes that means building the platform. Sometimes it means being in the room.
